Nathanael and Latasha Smith plead guilty of attacking a woman and her daughter in Baxley, GA over being served “cold chicken.” The couple received formal indictments on November 17th.
The story went viral over national news outlets and social media.
On June 22nd, the duo assaulted Qwik Chick food stand owner Jeanette Norris and her 15-year-old daughter because of the portion size and temperature of their order. Norris refunded their money and told them she had called the police. Police say that’s when Latasha Smith punched Norris, breaking her nose. Surveillance video shows the entire attack along with Nathaniel Smith punching the teen.
On July 5th, the couple turned themselves into the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office in Pembroke, GA where they were transported back to Baxley, GA to faces charges at that time.
In October, a judge ordered the case be moved from Appling County, where the attacks occurred, to Camden County – 79 miles away.
Latasha Smith was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one charge of Aggravated Battery with a deadly weapon on Jeanette Norris disfiguring Norris’s nose and face.
Nathaniel Smith was charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon on Norris’ the 15-year-old child along with one count of cruelty to children in the first degree.
Sentencing dates will be Jan. 12th in Camden Superior Court by Judge Bert Guy.
