The Gordon Central vs Chattooga Boys Basketball game was called after a Gordon Central fan attacked a Chattooga fan before attempting to assault a 16-year old Chattooga player according to eyewitnesses. Chattooga coaches worked to separate the Gordon Central fan from the player, and Chattooga head coach coach Jared Groce sent his team into the locker room. The Gordon Central fan was ejected from the game, and Principal Doug Clark from Gordon Central attempted to persuade Coach Groce to retake the court, but with no guarantees of his players safety Coach Groce made the decision to end the game and return home to prevent further confrontation and ensure the safety of his players. The game was called with a little over two minutes remaining in the third with a score of 69-44.
“The number one thing at any sporting event is the safety of the student athletes,” said Coach Groce. This will be another win for Chattooga. Both schools agreed to end the game with the final score of 69-44. Chattooga’s Athletic Director Billy Martin was at the game and ensured the Indians safe departure
