The Rome Braves defeated the West Virginia Power 9-4 Friday night with the help of Anthony Concepcion’s fourth inning grand slam.
The Power took an early 1-0 lead in second on a run scoring wild pitch. The Braves posted six runs in the fourth on the slam by Concepcion (2) and RBI singles by Lucas Herbert and Derian Cruz. In the sixth inning, Rome added a run when Randy Ventura scored on Cristian Pache’s double play ground out for the 7-1 score. West Virginia plated three runs in the seventh on a bases loaded walk and a two run single by Stephen Alemais to make it a 7-4 game however, the Braves picked up two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning for the 9-4 final.
Ryan Lawlor (1-1) earns the victory for the Braves and West Virginia’s James Marvel (1-2) gets the loss.
The Braves take the field tonight at 6pm.
